Advanced Human Genetics 236A - Winter 2011

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9:00AM to 9:50AM

Gonda 5303 (5th floor conference room)

  • The course will consist of lecture/discussion sessions. Each week will be entirely devoted to a specific subject under the guidance of a single faculty who is an expert in the field.
  • Each week the students will read one (1) original research article, to be discussed in class by the students during the Friday's session (no journal club format, just informal discussion involving the faculty and all students). In addition, whenever it is possible some (optional) background reading will be provided before the first session of each week, to help the student with the basic information relevant to the subject.
  • There will be no final examination or paper. Students will be evaluated based on (a) their attendance and participation in class and (b) homework assignments consisting of 2 or 3 questions per week. Students must submit the answers, either in paper or by email, at any time until the following Friday at noon (no exceptions on the deadline). Equal weight on (a) and (b).
